Edouard F. André letters
Edouard F. André (1840-1911) was a leading landscape architect and horticulturist of the late 19th century. The Edouard André letters (1886-1905) reflect the decision of Charles Sprague Sargent to have the illustrations of Silva of North America engraved and printed in Paris.
Elmer Drew Merrill (1876-1956) papers, 1922-1956.
Elmer Drew Merrill served as Director of the Arboretum from 1936 until 1946 and as Emeritus Professor until 1956. The collection is comprised mainly of his administrative correspondence from 1935-46 which includes his position as Administrator of Botanical Collections at Harvard University and also includes one year, 1903, of his correspondence as Botanist for the Bureau of Agriculture and Forestry as well as some other letters and memoranda written before 1935.
Ernest Henry Wilson papers
Exhibits collection, 1954-2006.
This collection was created by integrating several smaller collections dealing with exhibits at the Arnold Arboretum. Materials are varied and include photographs, negatives, articles, correspondence, notes, exhibit publicity, invoices, and videotapes. Some notable exhibits are Flowering Trees, Flora from Shakespeare, Bridge of Trees, and Museum in the Garden. The collection spans 1954-2006.
George Russell Shaw (1848-1937) papers, 1886-1942.
The George Russell Shaw papers document his taxonomic research on the genus pinus. Originally trained an architect at Harvard Shaw continued his studies at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and, in 1873 was a founding partner in the architectural firm Shaw & Hunnewell. Early in the 20th century Shaw became interested in studying pines and based his taxonomic career at the Arnold Arboretum.

Ida Hay (1948- ) papers, 1970-1993.
The Ida Hay collection principally includes correspondence, memos, information, grants, annual reports, and loan and voucher requests, and records regarding the daily management of the Arnold Arboretum Herbarium collection in Jamaica Plain between 1970 and 1993. Documentation of Hay’s bibliographic and indexing projects as well as her community projects is also included. Also included are photographs of herbarium processes and procedures.

International Lilac Society records
The records of the International Lilac Society are comprised of a variety of materials, including correspondence, meeting minutes, notes, publications, and photographs. The materials were created mainly between 1972 and 2000.
Joseph Francis Charles Rock (1884-1962) papers, 1922-1962.
This collection is comprised of publications, field notes, photographs, and correspondence by Joseph Francis Charles Rock. Rock worked as a botanist, anthropologist, explorer, linguist, and author for various agencies while travelling in Asia. Rock’s affiliation with the Arnold arboretum was that of a researcher in China and Tibet from 1924-1927. The bulk of this collection consists of correspondence, records, and images developed during that visit
