Scope and Contents
The Viaux family recipe book is a notebook with two sections. The main portion of the notebook, beginning at the front of the book, consists of handwritten recipes for foods including soup; fish; vegetables; cakes; jellies and jams; puddings; alcoholic beverages; soda water; recipes for pickling and preserving various foods and for curing bacon; and recipes for various home remedies, such as eye salve; tooth powder; treatment for burns; and cures for cholera, dysentery, and whooping cough....
