Subseries B. Annual conferences

Scope and Contents

Subseries B, Annual conferences, 1966-1998 (#23.1-26.55, 205.1-205.11), is arranged chronologically and contains planning records related to NOW's annual membership conferences, including calls to conference, conference planning committee meeting minutes, memos, conference reports, resolutions (drafts and final versions), national office candidate campaign literature, and related clippings and press materials. The completeness of these planning records varies from year to year. For conferences 1976-1978, NOW hired a professional service to provide transcriptions of conference plenary sessions. Membership counts are contained in this subseries; they provide the number of members both by chapter and by state in 1993. This subseries contains mostly printed material distributed to members at the conference, or general mailings to conference planners. Helene Weitzenkorn, a member of Boston NOW, provided some of the printed material from the 1980s; notes by Weitzenkorn are marked as such.
