Scope and Contents

The People material contains news clippings, magazine articles, memorials, reprints, and funeral bulletins which Doty collected about friends and colleagues. Many of the biographical sketches describe the lives of scientists and arms control advocates such as Harvard physics professor George B. Kistiakowsky, Soviet scientist Mikhail Dmitrievich Millionshchikov, University of California physics professor J. Robert Oppenheimer, physicist Edward Teller, and Soviet studies scholar Marshall Darrow Shulman. The audio and video cassette tapes include interviews and discussions with molecular biologist James Watson, Soviet physicist Andrei Sakharov, United States Congressman Les Aspen, arms control advisor Paul Nitze, and American Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger. There are listings of Soviet and American representatives who participated in arms control conferences on disarmament, strategic arms limitation, and defense spending from 1967 to 1972.
