Biographical / Historical

William Donnison (1757-1834) was a soldier during the Revolutionary War. In 1780, he traveled to West Indies and then to Amsterdam where he was received by John Adams. He served as an aide to Governor John Hancock in 1786, and later served as Adjutant General of the Massachusetts militia and Judge of the Common Pleas. His sons William and Joseph graduated from Harvard in 1805 and 1807.
