Scope and Contents

This series contains correspondence, manuscript copies of wills, bequests, and legal contracts related to donations to Harvard. The Wills, gifts, and grants volume (UAI 15.480 Volume 1) records a substantial number of gift records to the institution, as well as containing documents relating to disputes in collecting legacies. This series includes records relating to the donations of Lady Mowlson, Daniel Williams, Robert Boyle, John Doddridge, Sarah Winslow, Thomas and Bridget Cotton, William Donnison, Thomas Pownall, and John Trumbull, as well as many other donors. The records relate to donations of money, land, museum artifacts, and art.
