Processing Information

In 2015, so-called duplicate images were re-integrated with the main body of portraits of John Langdon Sibley. Images that were once designated and numbered as "duplicates" do not meet contemporary archival definitions of that term. The goal may have been to identify by appearance which photographic prints had been processed from the same negative, and this may have been why they were deemed "duplicate" at one time. Despite a numbering system that represents them as duplicates, each of these images is a unique print of an image, with its own character. Many also have markings that record their unique ownership histories.
