General note

Variant black-and-white images from GV's army service including:

  1. One image of GV and unidentified individuals at an unidentified ceremony, 1942.
  2. One image of GV in uniform and his mother, Nina Olds, at the ceremony for his award from the United Service Organizations (U.S.) for his poem, For Bob, 1944. Poem was about his stepfather, Robert Olds.
  3. Series of four images of GV stationed at the Aleutian Islands (Alaska) outdoors in uniform, 1944 :
  4. ___One image (two copies) of GV in front of barracks. One of the photographs includes AMs inscription by GV on verso: "I really don't look / that sick."
  5. ___One image (three copies) of GV next to a tree.
  6. ___One image of GV and unidentified individual. AMs inscription on verso: "Lauer and self / Alaska - 1944."
