General note

Depicts a left-side portrait of a man with a headdress composed of a raven skin, complete with the bird's head. The chief wears a beaded choker.

Verso includes text in ink: "This man was a very respected Warrior of the Mohawk nation - his name in the Huron or Wyandatt language is Shangress in the Iroquois Otcheek."

Recto includes faint illegible graphite text.

Walsh notes: "The precise identification of this figure remains elusive."
