General note
Depicts left-side portrait of a man, with his hand pointing at his own breast, wearing a triangular peaked leather? cap.
Verso includes text in ink: "This resembles strongly, Wawecaughten a Chief of the Poutcowattamie nation."
Recto includes faint illegible text in graphite.
Walsh notes: the "cap is unusual and appears to be subartic in style (Northern Ojibwa or Cree). Subject is wearing what one might call work clothes."
Dunnigan notes that this is "the Potawatomi chief Wawiachon," and that his head-dress "appears to be the red cloth crown of a British grenadier's cap."
