General note
The Business Records series contains records found in James Laughlin's Norfolk, Connecticut home relating to the "business" end (not editorial) of the NDPC. Most of these records concern Laughlin's corporate interests, but often his concerns were interconnected and consequently there are personal financial records here as well. See also the separately cataloged papers: James Laughlin Papers (bMS Am 2077.2) for additional business-related materials.
This series includes correspondence and documents concerning: business, personnel, and financial matters; investments; banking; corporate minutes, reports, sales and inventory; taxes; annual meetings; and papers from and relating to ND Managing Director Robert MacGregor, and book designer (and JL's wife) Gertrude Huston Laughlin.
