Scope and Contents

Handwritten letter from Nellie Rogers [Mrs. Francis Stetson Rogers] to Mildred Bliss acknowledges that Mildred has a million things on her mind. "I [Rogers] went down to address the W.O.S.L. [Women's Overseas Service League] Convention on Wednesday morning about this women's division of the National Security League, which General Bullard has asked me to head up. I flew down late on Tuesday after a very busy day in New York and got to the Wardman Park Hotel, the Washington headquarters, tired, [illegible word], and too late for your beautiful garden party alas! The 'girls' loved every bit of it. You gave them an unforgetable time. What they spoke of even more than your beautiful garden, was beautiful you! They were ever so pleased that you and Robert had really received each one of them as tho' it was indeed a garden party. Bless you both! I would have called you again, but there was a gathering that evening, and my part of the Convention was assigned me for early the next morning, and then a thousand questions and then the flight home. I hope you and Robert will getaway for a good rest soon, we go in for [illegible word] -- it is a week for work in town, and the rest of the time we rejoice down here in this sweet quiet place. She sends love to Mildred and Robert from both of them.
