Scope and Contents

Folders, labeled by subject, in boxes 26 and 27contain multiple photographs, contact sheets, and/or negatives depicting various hospital people, activities, locations, and events.

Folders in box 28, labeled by circa date, contain photographs (prints and negatives) of administrative staff, doctors, nurses, patients, and volunteers engaged in a variety of hospital related activities including patient care, surgery, research, events, outings, lectures, and publicity. Also contains photographs taken for newsletters and annual reports. Although most of the images are unidentified as to specific persons or moments depicted, the majority can generally be dated to the 1970s. This time period includes 1970–1975 when the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital was an independent entity, and 1975–1980, when the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital was operating as a division of the Affiliated Hospitals Center, Inc. There are also a few photographs from the 1920s through the 1960s.

Conditions Governing Access

Access requires advance notice. Access to unpublished administrative records is restricted for 50 years from the date of creation. Patient information is restricted indefinitely. Restricted records, except restricted patient photographs, are noted in the finding aid. Researchers may apply for access to restricted material.
