VIII. Visual Records, circa 1860s–1980.

Scope and Contents

Series VIII consists of photographs and other materials maintained for possible inclusion in hospital publications or for a visual account of hospital related people and events. Records include photograph prints, contact sheets, slides, negatives, and drawings. Lists for drawer XL03, shelf 6, and boxes 11–20, describe individual photographs. The contents of boxes 21–24 are described at the box level. Lists for boxes 26–28 describe folders containing several photographs on one subject. See also: Series IV, Special Events Records, 1913–1981, for a detailed description of lantern slides used in a 20th anniversary presentation in 1933.

Conditions Governing Access

Access requires advance notice. Access to unpublished administrative records is restricted for 50 years from the date of creation. Patient information is restricted indefinitely. Restricted records, except restricted patient photographs, are noted in the finding aid. Researchers may apply for access to restricted material.
