Scope and Contents

Consists of published scientific articles and reprints and manuscript drafts written by peers and colleagues, accompanied by related materials including research data and correspondence used as part of Zamecnik's career as a research scientist. Authors include the co-founder of Hybridon, Inc., Sudhir Agrawal; Mahlon Hoagland, the director of the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology and a colleague a Massachusetts General Hospital; as well as Michael Blackburn, Randy Burn, Bernard D. Davis, Marcus Horowitz, Herman M. Kalckar, Byung Kim, Fritz Lipmann, Robert Loftfield, John Long, Axel Kahn, Meera Khan, Peter Palese, Thoru Pederson, Eliezer Rapaport, and co-founder of ZATA Pharmaceuticals, Inc., David Tabatadze, among others. Files furthermore include a draft of a chapter by Hans-Jorg Rheinberger relating to Zamecnik' work on protein synthesis and ribosome structure. Topics of the articles pertain to Zamecnik's research interests, including protein synthesis, RNA and ribosomes, transfer RNA, antisense oligonucleotides, as well as other topics relating to genetics and gene repair. Some papers are in French, German, and Russian. In some cases, files were donated with flags relating to their contents; the content of these flags has been entered in the file-level scope and content note where applicable.
