Scope and Contents

Woodbury Medical Society charter, signed by Seth Hastings and other Connecticut physicians in 1791. Appended is a paragraph noting at a meeting of the Society in 1792, delegates were chosen to attend a convention of county medical societies, where a bill would be prepared to create a Connecticut state medical society. On the verso of the document is a patient case history of a Mrs. Carter, aged 75, who appeared to have dropsy of the pericardium. It is unclear what treatment Hastings prescribed.
