Grete Bibring, internationally known psychiatrist and student of Sigmund Freud, was the first woman to achieve full professorship at Harvard Medical School. M.D., University of Vienna, 1924. Appointed Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Beth Israel Hospital, Boston and Associate at Harvard, 1946. Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, 1950, Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, 1955 and promoted to Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in 1961.
