Scope and Contents:

Contains papers related to the estate of Boston wharfinger John Ballard, dated 1755-1777. Includes a deed of land, wharf, and flats in Boston sold to Ballard by William Pratt; a bond from Ballard to John Erving (1728-1816; Harvard AB 1747), as well as indentures of land mortgaged to Erving as security; and a release of a land deed from John Lowell to Ballard. Removed from Box 5 (54-2)

Scope and Contents:

Contains a letter from Stephen Collins, administrator of the estate of William Barrell, to Jonathan Amory, in 1776, discussing his progress settling the estate, inventories of goods he was taking, and the contents of Barrell's records, which he was sorting. Items he found were a letter from Barrell's brother, merchant and shipowner Joseph Barrell (1739-1804), regarding William's share in a privateer ship and accounts of flour Joseph had not shipped. Removed from Box 4, folder 26.

Scope and Contents:

Contains a deed to land in Connecticut, dated 1716, a deed of property in Boston acquired by Ebenezer Hartshorn in 1746, and a deed to Rebecca Amory (1701-1770) for a house in Boston, sold by Ezekiel Needham in 1747.

Scope and Contents:

Contains articles of agreement between J. & J. Amory and Isaac Codman, dated 1765. Under the agreement, J. & J. Amory provided Codman with five hundred pounds sterling to invest in trade. Removed from Box 4, folder 9.

Scope and Contents: Contains copies of correspondence written by Amory's & Taylor, dated 1768-1773, to British merchants including Hayley & Hopkins, Champion & Dickason, relating to terms of trade agreements with William Barrell, Joseph Marquand, and others. Several defend their trade schemes, after a number of British merchants received anonymous letters alleging the arrangements were deleterious.
