Biography

Emmy [Emilie] Franziska Stross Wellesz (1889-1987) was born to Ludwig Stross (1852-1913) and his wife Vilma Propper Stross (1861-). She attended Eugenie Schwarzwald's private girls' school and studied art history at the University of Vienna. She married Egon Wellesz (1885-1974), a composer and musicologist in 1908. They had two daughters, Magda (1909-2006) and Elisabeth (1912-1995). She is buried with her husband in the Vienna Central Cemetery, Austria.
