The Henry Jacob Bigelow papers, 1840s-1856 (inclusive), 1848-1855 (bulk), principally consist of draft and final or close to final draft medical illustrations, some accompanied by case or specimen notes. Drawings are in pencil, ink, and watercolor. Subjects include a wide variety of pathological conditions, mostly tumors, including epitheliomas, cheloids, cysts, and cancerous growths.

Scope and Contents:

8.5 inch x 11 inch double-sided, laminated, color teaching illustration of the female pelvic organs and female reproductive organs. Item belonged to obstetrician-gynecologist Joseph J. Weyer (1908-1994) who practiced in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Illustrations were prepared by Robert Latou Dickinson (1861-1950) and published by the Educational Department, Tampax Incorporated, New York, New York (undated).
