BIOGRAPHY
Ruth Taylor (Walton) Critchett was born in June 1885 in Bradford, Massachusetts, the daughter of Horace M. Walton and Anastasia McAvoy. She attended Newton High School and was graduated from Radcliffe in 1906. During her four years at Radcliffe, Critchett was a member and leader of the Glee Club and the Radcliffe Choral Society. She played on the basket-ball team, and was freshman class secretary.
After graduation, she taught for a year in Cape Natick Marine school, and then served for four years as assistant to the Principal of Newton Grammar School, (1907-1910).
In 1910 she married James Hamilton Critchett, a metallurgist and they had two children, Doris Rainey, and Ruth Boyer. She was a member of the Orleans Federated Church, the Orleans Woman's Club, and the Cape Cod Hospital Aid Association. In addition, she was a founding member of the College Club of Niagara Falls. Critchett died in Orleans, in August 1979 aged 94.
