BIOGRAPHY

Priscilla Drury Butler was born in Bristol, Rhode Island, on June 6, 1902 and was graduated from Colt High School (Bristol) in June 1919. She completed her senior year at Bancroft School (Worcester) in 1920. At Radcliffe, she concentrated in Art and Religion receiving her B.A. in 1926. After graduation, she took non-credit courses in Bible study and Biblical Art at the Episcopal Theological School (Cambridge). She first worked at Ginn and Co. and then with the Massachusetts Department of Education, Division of University Extension.

Butler married Manley Butler, a painter, and they traveled extensively on painting trips. She had an active life of her own lecturing on religion and the Bible to adults and young adults in the Episcopal Church sponsored by the Department of Education of the Diocese of Massachusetts. She also was a member of the executive board of the Episcopal Church Service League and for four years Chairman of the North Shore District.

She died on April 6, 1978.
