BIOGRAPHY

Rose Sherman, class of 1894, with a degree in Library Science from Simmons (1913 as of '04) was a devoted Radcliffe alumna. She was librarian of the new Radcliffe library from 1909-1927. From 1927 until 1934 she did part time work at the college. She was research assistant to Christina Hopkinson Baker, author of The Story of Fay House published in 1929 in connection with the fiftieth anniversary of the college. Later, she made a catalogue of all gifts and bequests received by the college since 1879. Sherman held several offices in alumnae organizations: Radcliffe College Alumnae Association, Radcliffe Club of Boston, Association of Class Secretaries, Secretary of her class, and Chairman of the Committee on Memorial Biographies. As the latter she did all the editing of the biographies. An indefatigable worker, her research was thorough, systematic and accurate.
