Scrapbook created by Adah Margaret Ewing containing clippings, programs, photographs, correspondence, and other materials documenting her life in Portland, Oregon, and her work as a bookseller for the J.K. Gill Company. Also included is a notebook Ewing titled "some books I have read" which contains lists of book titles and authors, often with the date when Ewing read the book.

The collection consists of a scrapbook Adah Margaret Ewing created containing clippings, programs, photographs, correspondence, and other materials documenting her life in Portland, Oregon, and her work as a bookseller for the J.K. Gill Company. The cover of the scrapbook is imprinted "The Girl Graduate's ScrapBook" and a sticker inside indicates it was sold at Gill's. Also included is a notebook Ewing titled "some books I have read" which contains lists of book titles and authors, often with the date when Ewing read the book.

BIOGRAPHY

Adah Margaret Ewing, daughter of James Roland Ewing, a bookseller, and Cora Lillian Elliott Ewing, was born November 13, 1882, in Portland, Oregon. She worked for the J.K. Gill Company from 1904 to 1945, beginning as a bookseller and retiring as a department manager and book buyer. She was a member of the American Book Sellers Association and served as the organization's vice president in 1927. She died October 1, 1971.
