The Ghodsieh Baher photograph collection contains three photograph albums documenting Baher's life in Iran and New York; her travels in Iran, the United States, Canada, and France; and her work as a midwife. Many photographs feature handwritten notations in English and Persian. Most of the photographs in this collection are or will be digitized and available online.

BIOGRAPHY

Ghodsieh Baher was born September 11, 1909, in Hamadan, Iran. Her family owned and operated several hospitals in Tehran, Iran, where Baher worked as a ghabeleh (midwife). Baher moved to the United States in the 1950s, settling in New York City. In March 1957, she became a United States citizen. Baher died in New York in December 1987.
