Recipe book of Mary E. McKean Andrews, 1870-ca.1900

Scope and Contents The collection consists of one volume entitled, The Manuscript Receipt Book and Household Treasury, published in 1870 by Claxton, Remson, and Haffelfinger of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was intended as a simple volume indexed in sections (e.g. soups, fish, meats, salads, beverages, medicinal remedies, etc.), in which the woman of the house could record her favorite recipes. The title page includes the quote "The turn-pike road to people's hearts I find,...
