Note: Also included is a typescript "rough translation" into English of comments by Le Corbusier on CIAM X's program. The text also includes his objection to the preeminence of English in CIAM documentation.
Note: CIAM X was originally to have been convened in Algiers; many of the items in this file refer to the initial site.
Note: Cf. also John Voelcker's report on CIAM 10, published in Architects' Yearbook, Vol. 8, pp. 43-52 (1957); together with a statement concerning CIAM's future signed by Sert, Gropius, Giedion, and Tyrwhitt (p.61).
Note: The file also includes a copy of the "Message de Le Corbusier" (typescript with holograph diagrams) dated from Cap Martin, 23 juillet 1956.
Note: A copy is also included of holograph notes by Le Corbusier entitled: "Invitation au 10ème. Congrès CIAM..." which contains his commentary on the "Habitat" theme.
Note: Largely material generated in preparation for the congress by the various individuals and national groups which formed Team X. Included are theoretical and practical criticisms of CIAM's structure and goals.
Note: Also included are schematic plans for the layout of exhibits at the 10th. congress and manuscript notes by S. Giedion (related to the Dubrovnik meeting, according to Bosman).
Note: For related background information and documentation, cf. Alison Smithson's The Emergence of Team 10... (London, 1982). Smithson was among the original Team X activists.
