Historical/Biographical Information

John J. Osborn, Jr. graduated from Harvard Law School with a J.D. in 1970. In 1971, he published the novel The Paper Chase , which he began writing during his third year of law school. Following the popularity of the book, Twentieth Century Fox produced a movie in 1973 based on the book. All exterior movie shots were filmed onsite at the Harvard Law School and all interior shots were filmed on sound stages built in Toronto, Canada. The book also spawned a television series that aired on CBS from 1978-1979 and was later picked up by Showtime and aired from 1983-1986. Osborn was a writer for the series.
