General note

Series Note

Early during the Second World War Prof. Glueck became interested in the ways in which the post-war world might deal with the World War II Axis criminals, with the handling of war crimes in general, and with ways of preventing such crimes in the future. He wrote extensively on this subject (Bibl. #96, 103, 105, 109, 110, 111, 113, 121-125, 128).

During the negotiations for a four-power agreement for the trial of Nazis, which began in London in June of 1945, Prof. Glueck accompanied, and served as advisor to, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, representative and chief counsel for the United States. An agreement was reached on August 8, 1945, and signed by the U.S., Great Britain, France and Russia. The International Military Tribunal was the outcome of these negotiations.

This series contains material relating to Prof. Glueck's participation in the London negotiations and to his writings on the subject of war crimes and war criminals.
