Content Description
The collection is composed of Harvard memorabilia collected by William Ellery Westman (Harvard Class of 1922). Included are a Harvard Handbook Calendar, Class day and Commencement event programs, Alpha Phi Sigma dance cards and menus, and a newsletter regarding the 1968 Harvard-Yale football game. Other items include programs and flyers for the 1936 Harvard University Tercentenary. The collection also contains alumni publications, including The ’22 Repeater (1947-1973), The Twenty Tool: Official Organ of the Class of 1922 (1928), the Alpha Phi Sigma Annual (1924), and The Trident Club Annual (1925-1931).

Banker William Ellery Westman (1899-1976) graduated from Harvard College in 1922. After graduation, he began a career in banking, joining the Webster and Atlas National Bank of Boston, becoming vice-president in 1942. Westman served as president of the Boston Conference of the National Association of Bank Auditors and Comptrollers and taught banking in the Boston chapter of the American Institute of Banking. In 1953, Westman was elected a corporator of the Warren Institution for Savings (later the Union Warren Savings Bank). After retiring from commercial banking in 1964, Westman served as a director of Charles E. Lauriat Company, a bookstore chain, until 1972.
