Scope and Contents
This series contains final examinations, 1853-2001. It also contains examinations dated January or February, 1944-2001. January examinations are either final examinations of half-year courses or mid-year examinations of full-year examinations, but they are all now considered final examinations. The series also contains summer final examinations, 1943-1947. From 1950 to 1982, examinations were bound in four volumes: Ancient Languages, Modern Languages, Social Sciences, and Sciences. From 1982-2001, examinations were bound in an alphabetical arrangement.

All January examinations, either mid-year or final, from 1944 or later, are classifed as final examinations. This classification reflects the decision made by the University during World War II to consider all courses as half-year courses. The University also instituted a three-term year, thus allowing students to graduate sooner.
