Cushing Wright Harvard memorabilia
Scope and Contents
Collection of Harvard College memorabilia once belonging to Cushing Frederic Wright (1880 or 1881-1961), Harvard Class of 1903. Items include a maroon blanket, which has a has a large black “H” embroidered on the center; two knitted sweaters, one black and one maroon, and a cloth pennant. The black turtleneck sweater has a large red “H” knitted into the center of the chest and the maroon crimson turtleneck sweater has a large white “1903” embroidered on the chest. The round cloth pennant is green, depicts the American continents in the background, and includes a white “1903” in its center. There are no sewn tags on the memorabilia to indicate the producer of these items.

Cushing Frederic Wright (1880 or 1881-1961) earned his Harvard AB in 1903. While a student at Harvard, he was a member of the rowing and football teams and lived in Fairfax Hall. Following graduation, he was employed in the paper wholesale business, working for the Wright, Barrett and Stilwell Company in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he succeeded his father as president in 1916. Wright and his brother sold the company in 1921 and Wright took up writing. He married Margaret Ames in 1917; they had four children. Wright died April 22, 1961 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
