Constantinople College, 1908 - 1919

Scope and Contents

Hart, together with a number of other Massachusetts men and women and several men with ties to Harvard, was a member of the Board of Trustees of Constantinople College (also called the American College for Girls at Constantinople), a school for Christian girls of the Ottoman Empire.

This subseries documents the considerable amount of time Hart spent working on matters relating to the College and includes Hart’s correspondence with the president of the school, Mary Mills Patrick, treasurer Charles H. Rutan, and Theodore Roosevelt. Also included are treasurer’s reports and budgets.
