Contains correspondence related to the Observatory's funding and budgets, Observatory and University staffing and professorship decisions, Harvard's Tercentenary celebrations, educational radio broadcasting, the college's geology curriculum, and invitations to social gatherings. Also contains a letter from Shapley congratulating Conant on his election as president of Harvard University and a letter from Shapley recommending the appointment of Annie Jump Cannon to the position of William Cranch Bond Astronomer and Curator of Astronomical Photographs and Cecilia Payne Gaposchkin as Phillips Astronomer.
