Scope and content
The sixth volume of College Papers contains original documents dating from 1809 to 1811, spanning the tenures of presidents Samuel Webber and John Thornton Kirkland, and treasurers Jonathan Jackson and John Davis. Much of the volume consists of general administrative correspondence exchanged between Kirkland and Davis.
Topics of note include appointments to the Boylston Medical Committee; the awarding of Boylston prizes by the Prize committee; the move of the medical lectures to Boston; the transferring of office of treasurer from Jackson to Davis and office of president from Webber to Kirkland; the election of 15 laymen to the Board of Overseers; the wounding of John Cooper by Elisha Goddard in Charlestown; and Benjamin Waterhouse's oversight of the mineralogical cabinet.
Item numbers were assigned by the archivist. An index in chronological order at the back of volume refers to page numbers, not item numbers.
