Scope and Contents

The letters, copies of votes extracted from the Board of Visitors meeting minutes, bills of exhange, reports, lists and statutes in this series document the administration of the Massachusetts Professorship of Natural History and Botanic Garden at Harvard by the Board of Visitors. Topics represented in these records refer to the establishment of the Professorship, Botanic Garden, and Board of Visitors; the fund raising activities undertaken on behalf of the Professorship and Botanic Garden; and the management of the Botanic Garden. Additionally records include financial journals, vouchers, receipts, invoices, subscription papers, certificates, and homeowner's insurance policies.
