A: Records relating to early land purchases and interactions with the Natick Indians, 1700-1724

Scope and Contents

This subseries contains deeds, property plans, legal records, and correspondence pertaining to the purchase of land that became the town of Hopkinton, and related interactions with Indians in the surrounding areas. The records include copies of the deeds related to the purchase of land from Natick Indian John Owosamog, and colonists Moses Parker, Joseph Buckminster, and Anthony Blount and John Jones. The subseries also includes a document from Natick Indians to the Trustees requesting a ministry for the town, and a petition to the General Court requesting aid for the "Indian inhabitants in Punkapaugue."
