Scope and Contents
The faculty reports in this series were written to Jacob Bigelow, Rumford Professor and Lecturer on the Application of Science to the Useful Arts, John Farrar, Hollis Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy, and President John T. Kirkland from 1824 to 1827. The reports contain various statistics about Webster's classes in chemistry, mineralogy, and geology such as the number of times Webster gave lectures each week, the number of hours in each day Webster prepared laboratory experiments for presentation, the number of juniors and seniors Webster taught, the number of excused and unexcused student absences that occurred each semester, the length of each lecture or exercise, and the books read in class.
