Biographical / Historical

William Bentley was a friend of General John Stark and noted in his diary on May 2, 1810, "Yesterday was inserted in the Register of Salem, the first no. of the Biographical Sketch of General John Stark. I suspect we are indebted to his Son in Law Stickney for this Sketch, It is written in the original simplicity of the Author, but might have preserved its simplicity & yet have had a neater dress."
