Quarterly accounts, 1722-1799

Scope and Contents

The Quarterly account books generally hold both student account records and records of purchases by the Butler. They are a resource for information about Harvard students and their daily life. The Butler's tallies indicate the number of student purchases at the Buttery. The Butler's expenses reveal the types of provisions stocked in the Buttery, and thus the types of food and everyday items used in the College.
