Scope and content

This subseries contains correspondence, obligations and bonds, legal documents, memorials, orders for payment, memoranda, bills and receipts, and votes of the Harvard Corporation. Topics documented include protection of boundaries after King William’s War; student discipline; the service of Calvin Galpine (Harvard College Class of 1715) and Oliver Peabody (Harvard College Class of 1721) in preaching to the Native Americans under Robert Boyle’s legacy; from funds, including the Sprague legacy; salaries of the Fellows and the controversy over their right to seats in the Corporation; building a new upper gallery in the Cambridge meeting house; and the payment of exhibitions.
