Processing Information

This subseries was formerly named the Numerical Correspondence File, 1893-1903. It was renamed in 2006.

The material in this subseries was originally arranged in folder number order by Jerome D. Greene, Secretary to the President, in 1902-1903. In 2006, the archivist deconstructed Greene's arrangement scheme and organized the material alphabetically by correspondent, subject, or organization.

Researchers should note that Greene wrote the old folder numbers he established on each document in this subseries. In addition, during the re-processing of this subseries, the archivist discovered that some of the folders indicated on Greene's original index were missing. These missing folders are noted in the map of obsolete call numbers.
