Scope and Content

This subseries records the official visits of foreign dignitaries and invited guests to Harvard University. The images also document the ceremonial part of the work of the University Marshal, who is responsible for greeting, escorting, and exchanging gifts with official visitors, and having them sign the Harvard University guest book. Includes scenes of visitors in and around Harvard Yard, by the John Harvard Statute, and at Wadsworth House. Images often include the visitor photographed with the President, University Marshal, and other University officials. Materials consist of black and white contact sheets, enlargements, and 35mm, 2x2 in. and 4x5 in. negatives.
