General note

A bakhshī normally sings in Khorasani Turkish, Kurmanji Kurdish, and (less often) Persian, accompanying himself on the dotār, a long-necked lute with two strings. The language of each performance is indicated.

Performances by five bakhshīs are included in this section: Hosein Safā’i, Hosein Na’imi, Hasan Yazdāni, Mokhtār Zambilbāf Esfarayeini and ‘Abdul Rasul.
