Contains manuscript drafts of portions of "The Rights of Man," by H.G. Wells, as well as annotated and edited galley proofs and a single copy of the published essay. Further materials include photographs of Wells, biographical materials, as well as several personal essays celebrating Wells and his work.

Biographical / Historical

H.G Wells (1866-1946) was an English writer who published works across genres, including science fiction and works of social commentary, such as “The Rights of Man,” published first in 1940, which is believed to have been the foundation for the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

Charles Kay Ogden was an English linguist, philosopher, and writer, who seems to have assisted with the editing of “The Rights Of Man.”
