Collection is comprised of letters from eight correspondents to Constantine Alexander Ionides and a daughter (presumably), with one photograph and three sketches from John Macallan Swan; letters largely concern painting and related endeavors.

Biographical / Historical

Constantine Alexander Ionides, born in England in 1833, was a commodity trader in his father's firm; subsequently a London stock exchange trader with Clapham Bros. and later with his own firm; and an art patron and collector.
