Biographical / Historical

Ellen Jane Froman (1907-1980), known professionally as Jane Froman, was an American actress and singer. She performed on the radio, stage, and television throughout her thirty-year career.

Froman performed on numerous radio and stage shows throughout the 1930s. She participated in U.S.O. tours in Europe during World War II. During one tour, she was involved in a plane crash in Portugal, resulting in chronic health problems that would follow her for the rest of her life.

Froman is credited with three movies from the 1930s, and, following World War II, went on to have a career in television.

Froman was married three times during her life and had no children. She passed away at age 72 in Columbia, Missouri.
