Biographical / Historical

Karl Viëtor was Kuno Francke Professor of German Art and Culture at Harvard University.

Lilli Bechmann Rahn received her PhD in 1934 from Friedrich-Alexanders University in Erlangen (Germany) and was at that time in correspondence with Professor Viëtor; she sent him her dissertation. Rahn emigrated with her family from Germany to the United States in 1939.
