John M. Haines was a resident of Chichester (N.H.), and served as a private and corporal in the United States Army, New Hampshire Infantry Regiment, 3rd from 1861 August to 1864 August. He apparently died before 1880, when his wife Helen M. Haines was listed by the census as a widow in Cambridge (Mass.)
