Civil War, Grant's Army, and Sauquoit correspondence, 1864-1867 Digital

Scope and Contents

Correspondence to Jane Gray from her sister, Susan Jackson, (1864 October 2 and undated) regarding her son Patrick, who was a soldier in Grant's Army.

Jane and Asa traveled to Washington, D.C. in 1865. Jane stayed longer to visit with her brother, Charles Greely Loring, and see military camps. The first letter is from Jane to her sister Sue, the rest are to Asa (1865 March 5-23).

Sauquoit: The Grays apparently paid a visit to Sauquoit in 1867. There is one letter to Sue from Jane (1867 July 18).
